India beats Bangladesh by 1 run
While Bangladesh brings in Tamim Iqbal, India is playing an unchanged eleven
India’s much vaunted batting line-up struggled on a slow and sluggish
track as they managed an unimpressive 146/7 against a disciplined
Bangladesh attack in a group league encounter of the ICC World Twenty20,
on Wednesday.
The teams
India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain and wk), Shikhar Dhawan,
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Hardik Pandya, Yuvraj Singh,
Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah
Bangladesh: Mashrafe Mortaza (captain), Mohammed Mithun, Tamim
Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahaman, Shakib Al Hasan Mahmuddulah
Riyadh, Shuvagato Hom, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mustafizur Rahaman, Al Amin
Hossain.
India will take on Bangladesh in the World T20 championship match in
Bengaluru on Wednesday. If India wins this match, the hosts brightens
their chances to enter the semifinals along with New Zealand from this
Group.
From Ashwin Achal at the Chinnaswamy stadium:
- Given the spinner-friendly nature of this wicket, will Dhoni consider
giving Yuvraj a bowl? R. Ashwin has bowled out his four, Jadeja has one
left, and Raina has three overs left.
- 50 up for Bangladesh in 6.4 overs. The energy among the Indian
fielders has dipped considerably. Only a wicket can bring them back to
life.
- Two-drop Shakib Al Hasan looked in superb touch during the previous
match, against Australia, but got out for 33. Once he was dismissed,
Bangladesh crumbled and the game was lost. Shakib has to bat through
till the close to take his side to a win today.
- Shuvagata Hom cleans up Virat Kohli, and the crowd goes silent. Hom is
playing this match only because Arafat Sunny got suspended for bowling
with an illegal action. Not a bad replacement at all.
- "The emcee at the Chinnaswamy Stadium is doing his best to keep the
crowd entertained. The lack of big fireworks from the Indian batsmen is
making his job tough.
Soumya Sarkar grabs a stunning catch at deep square-leg, and even the
normally stoic journalists in the press box cannot help but break into
applause.
- India were put into bat after Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza won
the toss in the crucial group league encounter of the ICC World T20,
here tonight.
- While India are fielding the same side, Bangladesh were bolstered by
the return of Tamim Iqbal, who missed the last match in place of
left-arm spinner Saqlain Sajib.
Despite Team India lost the opening T20 match against New Zealand, it bounced back strongly to defeat its arch-rivals Pakistan.
Considered to be one of the toughest group in World T20 championship, Bangladesh had lost its earlier two matches against Pakistan and Australia.
