India’s batting hasn’t really been tested: Mithali

Prior to the match against Bangladesh, skipper Mithali Raj had stressed on the fact that India’s batting line up hadn’t really been tested. Tuesday’s examination against Bangladesh might not have been the toughest, but there were indeed a lot of positives.
“This has given a lot of confidence to those who spent some time in the middle,” said Mithali after the win. “It is important for us to continue to do what we did today.
“If you are going to have batters who are going to go after the bowling in the first six overs, there is an amount of risk involved,” she said. “We have Vanitha, who has done well against Australia in Australia and now has given us results. With this plan, even if you lose a wicket, we know we have a proper stable batsman [Smriti Mandhana] coming in at No. 3.”
Harmanpreet Kaur too spoke on the same lines highlighting how the team is now unearthing new match-winners.
“Two years back, we were missing openers,” said Harmanpreet. “Now, we have Vanitha [V.R] and also Smriti [Mandhana]. We were totally dependent on Mithali before.”
